The Thessaloniki Song Festival 2006 was held on Saturday 4 November at the (Pilaias Stadium, Γήπεδο Πυλαίας).

A semi-final round which saw 16 entries (2, Nov) were whittled down to 10 acts for Saturday's live televised final. Submissions were high, a total of 1,300 entries. The voting was 50% jury, 50% public who decided on the outcome.

There was a special appearance from show-man Mihalis Hatzigiannis who performed his greatest hits, with the ERT orchestra who provided excellent backing.

The winning entrant was 'Tis arnis to nero' a beautiful atmospheric folk ballad. The singer was newcomer Stavros Siolas.
